Have you ever stood at your own gate, looked at your horse, and thought I'd get so much more out of this if I just had someone here to help me?
That thought is the whole reason I do what I do. I'm Tania Greenwood, a British Horse Society-qualified riding instructor, and after thirty-three years of teaching (around thirty of them right here in the Townsville region) I now offer mobile horse riding lessons across Townsville and surrounds. No float, no unfamiliar arena. I come to you, and I coach you on your own horse, at your own place, with your own gear.
It's a simple idea, and honestly it's how I think riding is best learned. Your horse behaves like your horse when it's standing in its own paddock, not like a wide-eyed passenger who's just been trucked somewhere strange. You ride in the space you actually ride in, day to day. And I get to see the real picture: the two of you, on an ordinary afternoon, working on the things that genuinely matter to you.
Whoever you are, wherever you're starting from
I teach riders of every age and every level, and I mean that. Maybe you're chasing a real goal and you want honest, structured coaching to get there. Maybe you've quietly lost your nerve somewhere along the way. After a fall, or a long time out of the saddle, or just the creeping caution that turns up as we get older, you'd like it back. Maybe you're a parent watching your kid at the arena rail with no idea what you're actually looking at. You're all welcome here, and I'll tell you the truth as we go, kindly but plainly.
What I care about most, after all these years, isn't ribbons. It's the quiet understanding between a rider and their horse: the moment it starts to click, and you can feel the two of you finally listening to each other. That's the work. How the coaching works
The short version: you keep your horse where it lives, and I bring the teaching to you. Lessons are one-to-one or in a small group, whichever suits you and your setup. I coach the horse and the rider, because your horse is telling you something in every ride, and half of getting better is learning to hear it.
